The Port of Long Beach partnered with the Port of Los Angeles to build a zero-emission tugboat capable of exerting a force equivalent to 90 tons for ship assist and harbor work. It will feature a 3,400 kW-hr battery, supplemented by onboard diesel generators as needed. A charging station at the Port of LA will allow the hybrid tugboat to achieve at least 30% zero-emission operations.
