Port of Brisbane has leveraged its award-winning physics-based vessel management system, NCOS Online, to further optimize a vessel’s target speed, within operational transit windows, to reduce emissions. This "Green Button" functionality uses an accurate vessel emissions algorithm, and trials resulted in the first five vessels trialed (collaborating with Maersk and CMA CGM) using the tool realized results exceeding expectations, with a reduction of 51% for one of the vessels. Further savings up to 71% for one of the vessels being possible with better operational support for pilots to closely adhere to recommend dynamic speed profiles necessary to get the full benefits.

Nexigen, the Dock Electrification Plan, is aligned with the Port of Barcelona's environmental sustainability goal, Strategic Plan 2021-2025. It is a key part of the Port of Barcelona's energy transition plan, which aims achieve 50% emissions reduction by 2030 and to be a carbon-neutral port by 2050. The plan also considers energy supply with certified 100% renewable origin, and a new 220/25 kV port substation within the Port of Barcelona that will be connected to the Cerdà Substation of Red Eléctrica Española (REE/redeia) (National Electricity Grid operator) that is currently under construction. The first phases of the plan became operational in 2024.

As of January 2024, the Port of Virginia is the first major US East Coast port to power its entire operation using 100 percent clean electricity. The Low-Emission Technology Initiative is one of the key ways the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is working towards its goal under the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy to phase out all port-related emissions by 2050, in support of the Government of Canada’s commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. To date, the Low-Emission Technology Initiative has helped fund various pilot projects of low-carbon fuels and technologies in partnership with the province and industry partners across a range of port-related sectors, such as container trucking, terminal operations, harbor vessels and commercial ferries. Originally established in 2014, the purpose of the 20-member Community Liaison Group (CLG) is two-fold and circular: (1) Communication: To act as a vital voice for communities and stakeholders that border the Port. The Port Authority of NSW installed a 35.6 kW rooftop solar system at its Newcastle Port Centre. The system will supply an average 150 kWh/day of electricity, which will be used to offset electricity use within the Centre. The Port Authority already offsets 100% of its electricity usage State-wide with renewable electricity generation through a power purchase agreement linked to a NSW solar farm and a NSW wind farm; this is the next step, supplying our own renewable energy, offsetting our electricity consumption.

Supported by a $70 million in direct finance from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CPFC), Flinders Port Holders (FPH) will pursue electrification initiatives across FPH’s seven South Australian ports. Projects include transitioning from hybrid straddle carriers to an electric Automated Rubber Tyre Gantry at its Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal, in what would be a significant change to the way it moves containers, and an Australian first. Other measures include the replacement of internal combustion engine light vehicles and vessels with electric and hybrid alternatives, and installation of solar PV to reduce power consumption across the energy intensive sites. In addition, FPH will investigate the potential of cleaner shore-based power by connecting berthed ships to the grid to replace diesel bunker fuel.

The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners approved a $19.3 million deal to buy solar power for the next 20 years. Under the agreement, the Port will buy approximately eight (8) megawatts (MW) of renewable solar energy annually from Grace Orchard Energy Center, LLC (Grace Solar Facility), located in Riverside County, California. As a comparison, 8 MW of power would supply electricity for roughly 6,400 homes a year. Solar is one of the main renewable energy sources the Port uses, along with power from small hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, and biowaste. The Grace Solar Facility is slated to come online in the summer of 2027 and the Port of Oakland purchase agreement begins December 2027. The Port of Oakland is a publicly owned utility and will resell the renewable power to tenants including those at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport and the Oakland Seaport.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges and CMB.TECH joined forces to create the world's first hydrogen-powered tug. The Hydrotug 1 consists of two innovative dual-fuel BeHydro engines that can run on either hydrogen or traditional fuel. This tug is part of an integrated greening programme for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges fleet and is being deployed as a major step in the transition to a climate-neutral port by 2050. With the Hydrotug 1, CMB.TECH is affirming its international pioneering role in the transition to ships powered by environmentally friendly fuel. The Hydrotug 1 will be sailing around Antwerp from 2024.
