Project overview

The The JAXPORT EXPRESS Project includes: 1) installing electrified refrigerated container stacks; 2) procuring six hybrid-electric cranes; 3) acquiring 16 battery-electric forklifts, ten battery-electric yard tractors, and seven Tier 4 diesel top picks; 4) installing 15 high-power DC fast chargers; and 5) developing a scalable zero-emission transition plan. This project received $23,518,000 in PIDP 2022, as well as private funds from Crowley and SSA. Through the initiative, JAXPORT will also spend $1 million to support port-wide electrification through the development of a plan for transitioning JAXPORT, the local maritime industry, and other similar ports towards lower emissions technologies.
